eBooks at Strathclyde: Springer Link

About Springer Link

Springer Link is an e-content platform, providing access to E-books and journal articles from Springer, primarily covering scientific subjects.

Finding Ebooks on Springer Link

Access SpringerLink through the link above.  All the Ebooks available to you through Springer Link can also be found using SUPrimo. When you find a Springer Link Ebook, click the "Electronic resource" link.

If you are off-campus you need to login using your University of Strathclyde username and password:

  • From the SpringerLink page click Sign up/Login at the top of the screen
  • Choose Institutional  login
  • Under  Institutions either select University of Strathclyde from the drop-down list or enter University of Strathclyde into the search box
  • Click Login via Shibboleth
  • At the University of Strathclyde SSO page, enter your Strathclyde Username and Password

On-campus users don't need to login.

Can I read all the Ebooks on Springer Link?

The University subscribes to selected titles on Springerlink.  To see what Ebook content you can access, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Books, and untick the box "Include preview only content".  There are almost 60000 full-text titles available.  When you see the icon, this denotes a title where the content is not available through the University of Strathclyde subscription;  you will be able to preview unowned content.  If you want to access unowned content, check SUPrimo to see if it's available in print in the Library.

Searching and Browsing

To search the content, enter your search term into the search box, or you can choose to Browse, using the Discipline and Sub-discipline options.  NB: ensure that you have limited the content to Books, as Springer Link includes journal articles.

Using Mobile Devices

Springer Link Books are downloaded as PDFs, so as long as you have a PDF reader installed on your device, you will be able to download to mobile devices using a number of PDF download tools.
