Information on known access issues affecting the library's electronic resources.


This page provides information and updates on any known access problems or planned maintenance affecting our library electronic resources (e-books, e-journals and databases).  For information on the status of IT systems and services, please follow the below link to the IT Service Status page.

Ongoing Library eResource issues

eResource (provider) Details of problem Date raised
Who Was Who (Oxford University Press) SUPrimo 'Reference Entries' type records for 'Who Was Who' content return Page Not Found error.  This has been reported to provider, and records will be removed from SUPrimo until the problem is sorted. (It will take approximately 7 to 10 days for the records to disappear from SUPrimo.)  The resource can still be accessed via the Who's Who and Who Was Who SUPrimo 'database' record or the A-Z Database record. 05-12-2019
Westlaw Westlaw UK has recently moved to a new platform.  Work is ongoing to update SUPrimo catalogue records to reflect the new platform.  If SUPrimo records are missing, or contain broken links, please access Westlaw using our Westlaw A-Z Database record.  Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. last updated 16-10-2019
IOP Science platform (Institute of Physics) Web browsers currently display a security warning on the IOP Science platform, warning that parts of the page (such as image) may not be secure. The warning appears when users are authenticated on the site. The error is due to the branding and logo images; however the site connection is secure. Emerald Insight platform - Emerald eJournal and eBook content

Emerald's new Emerald Insight platform ( goes live early July 2019. The exact date has not been confirmed. Please note that a few things won't be available straight away on the new platform: teaching notes will not be directly accessible from the site in the early stages of migration [contact Customer Support (, who will supply you with the materials you require]; and user profile (My profile) section won't be available immediately.

NEW SITE LAUNCHES early July 2019

ASME Digital Library There is a known problem with PDF links to ASME ‘Brief Notes’ content on the ASME Digital Collection platform. ASME are aware of this issue and are working on a solution, however there is no timeframe for when this will be resolved. ASCE Library Some changes have been implemented which improve the linking to Primo when following Find it@Strathclyde links from ASCE. For book/chapter and journal/article type content the linking experience has been improved significantly; for other types of publication such as papers and standards, the search in Primo is still unreliable. ASCE have development plans for their OpenURL which may help, but have no timescale for when this development may happen. 22-11-2019
Historical Texts (Jisc)

Off-campus access to Jisc Historical Texts is working. Login problems seem to be related to specific networks, including Guest WiFi.

ProQuest Ebook Central Notification from ProQuest that the system issue affecting search performance on Ebook Central has been resolved. 13-11-2019
ProQuest Alexander Street Press eResources Notification from ProQuest that the recent system issue affecting the performance of have been resolved. 07-11-2019
Scopus Recent access problems to Scopus have been resolved. Access to this resource is now working as normal. 07-11-2019
Passport GMID We experienced temporary problems accessing Passport while they were undertaking work to upgrade their authentication system. This work is now completed and access is working as normal. If you experience access problems with Passport, please report these to Information Services’ helpdesk. 30-10-2019
Nexis We were experiencing a problem where a 'Get It now!' button was displaying against certain content in Nexis.  This has now been resolved. 24-10-2019
