Overview

This page provides information and updates on any known access problems or planned maintenance affecting our library electronic resources (eBooks, eJournals and databases).  For information on the status of IT systems and services, please follow the below link to the IT Service Status page.

If you experience any problems using our library electronic resources, please first check the list below to see if this is a known issue.  If the problem is not listed here, please report the issue to the Enquiry Desk using the contact details provided below.  For general help using our library electronic resources, please contact the Enquiry Desk, or browse our LibGuides for subject specific and How To... guides.

SpringerLink Ebooks We are currently experiencing access problems to 2021 published Springer Ebooks. Springer have been made aware of this and are investigating. We hope to have access reinstated as soon as possible. 04-05-2021
EBSCOhost eBooks SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE: During the week of May 5-12, 2021, EBSCO will be performing upgrade work affecting EBSCO eBooks. The work will primarily impact staff ordering and administrative tasks, however please note that library users will not be able to download full eBooks to read offline. Users will still be able to Read Online and download individual chapters. More information can be found here . SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE: 05-05-2021 - 12-05-2021
VLeBooks (Askews & Holts) We recently experienced problems with users getting error messages when trying to access eBooks on VLeBooks, such as "There was an error acquiring a licence. Please try again" or "Acquiring Licence please wait". The problem is not currently occurring, however the provider is still doing work and testing on the platform to ensure that this does not resurface.  If you experience this issue, please do report this to the library. 26-02-2021 - updated 21-04-2020
Wiley Online Library We are currently experiencing problems with the Institutional (Shibboleth) login on Wiley Online Library. When users search for and select University of Strathclyde, they are not being taken to our institutional login page. This has been reported to the publisher.  In the meantime, if you are experiencing problems accessing Wiley Online Library, please use this alternative URL for access (entering DS login if prompted to do so) https://login.proxy.lib.strath.ac.uk/login?url=https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/  . 06-04-2021
Sage eResources We are currently experiencing problems with the Institutional (Shibboleth) login on Sage platforms, returning an error. This has been reported to the publisher.  In the meantime, if you are experiencing problems, please use this alternative URL for access (entering DS login if prompted to do so) https://login.proxy.lib.strath.ac.uk/login?url=https://sk.sagepub.com/ .  To access the relevant Sage content you may then need to browse to the relevant Sage site (e.g. Sage Business Cases or Sage Journals) - links can be found if you scroll down the Sage Knowledge homepage. 06-04-2021
Brill Reference Works and Primary Sources If off-campus users go directly to Brill Reference Works or Brill Primary Sources and use the 'institutional Login option, the Where Are You From page is displaying as 'not secure' in Firefox or Edge browsers. This has been reported to Brill.  As a workaround, users can either use Chrome browser, or can access our Brill content on these platforms via the SUPrimo catalogue records for the specific titles, which allow off-campus access via a different authentication method. 03-12-2020
ACM Digital Library Please note that the Find it@Strathclyde button is not working correctly on the ACM Digital Library site.  This has been reported to ACM. 24-08-2020
Dawsonera eBooks Following the sad news that Bertram Books (including Dawson Books) has fallen into administration, the Dawsonera eBooks platform is no longer available as of 31st July 2020. The majority of our Dawson eBook titles are now available on the VLeBooks platform. Library staff are working with Askews & Holts to investigate restoring access to a small number of remaining titles.  13-07-2020 [updated 16-11-2020]
Sustainable Organization Library Sustainable Organization Library titles have moved from the Ingenta platform to Taylor & Francis eBooks.  Please search on Taylor & Francis eBooks to find Sustainable Organization Library titles. We are aware that some Sustainable Organization Library titles are missing from the Taylor & Francis platform and we are working with Taylor & Francis to address this, and to update the links in SUPrimo and other library records.  30-04-2020
Who Was Who (Oxford University Press) SUPrimo 'Reference Entries' type records for 'Who Was Who' content return Page Not Found error.  This has been reported to provider.  Where these records contain broken links, the resource can instead be accessed via the Who's Who and Who Was Who SUPrimo 'database' record or the A-Z Database record. last updated 16-12-2019

IEEE Xplore IEEE have fixed the problems with the 'institutional login' on IEEE Xplore returning an error. Normal access is now restored. You may need to clear browser cache and cookies before attempting to sign in.  Apologies for the disruption. 21-04-2021
OnePetro The publisher has restored our access to OnePetro.  Apologies for the inconvenience and interruption to access. 20-04-2021
Medicines Complete The technical problems affecting Stockley's Drug Interactions, Martindale: The Complete Drug Reference, and British National Formulary on the Medicines Complete platform over the Easter weekend have been fixed by the supplier. Apologies for the inconvenience. 08-04-2021
Sage eResources We recently experienced problems with the Institutional (Shibboleth) login on Sage eResources, returning an error. The issue has now been fixed by the provider. 06-04-2021
Wiley Online Library We recently experienced poblems with the Institutional (Shibboleth) login on Wiley Online Library, returning an error "SP description. Unspecified Service Provider an error occurred". The issue has now been fixed by the provider. 06-04-2021
ProQuest databases We have been advised by ProQuest that the issue affecting viewing eBooks on ProQuest databases has been resolved.  The ProQuest incident page can be viewed at https://status.proquest.com/incidents/116 . 01-04-2021
Ebook Central (ProQuest) We have been advised by ProQuest that the issue affecting Ebook Central has been resolved.  The ProQuest incident page can be viewed at https://status.proquest.com/incidents/117 . 01-04-2021
SUPrimo records for Gale content We were previously experiencing problem affecting links in SUPrimo records for journals and articles on various Gale databases - after entering DS login the site was initially returning 'document you requested could not be found'.  This problem has now been resolved. 01-04-2021
SpringerLink We are aware of an error message occurring when users access the SpringerLink site. The publisher has reported that there was an intermittent issue affecting the site, which they have now fixed. 31-03-2021
EBSCOhost databases The recent problems regarding intermittent linking errors from EBSCOhost databases have been resolved.  Fuller details from EBSCO of the problem and resolution can be found here. 29-03-2021
American Physical Society eJournals The Institutional (Shibboleth/Open Athens) log in option on the American Physical Society site https://journals.aps.org is now working. Off-campus log in to eJournal content on this site is now possible either by going via SUPrimo records, or by going directly to the site and following the institutional log in prompts which appear when you attempt to access full text content. 22-03-2021
