Information on known access issues affecting the library's electronic resources.

Overview

This page provides information and updates on any known access problems or planned maintenance affecting our library electronic resources (e-books, e-journals and databases).  For information on the status of IT systems and services, please follow the below link to the IT Service Status page.

If you experience any problems using our library electronic resources, please first check the list below to see if this is a known issue.  If the problem is not listed here, please report the issue to the Enquiry Desk using the contact details provided below.  For general help using our library electronic resources, please contact the Enquiry Desk, or browse our LibGuides for subject specific and How To... guides.  

Ongoing Library eResource issues

ProQuest Ebook Central SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE: ProQuest will be performing maintenance on their Ebook Central platform on Saturday 19th October from 5pm - 8pm UK time. scheduled maintenance 19-10-2019
Passport Passport are currently undergoing work to upgrade the authentication system. We experienced some disruption related to this, with users experiencing a ‘Server Error’ message when attempting to access Passport.  Passport have applied a fix which has addressed this access problem, however work to upgrade the authentication system is still ongoing.  If you experience access problems with Passport, please report these to Information Services’ helpdesk. 14-10-2019
Nexis Nexis has recently moved to a new platform.  There is a known problem where a 'Get It now!' button is displaying against certain content.  Nexis are aware of the problem and working to resolve this. Nexis has confirmed that we are entitled to access this content. If a Get It Now! button appears next to content you wish to view, please do click the button to access the content. 09-10-2019
IOP Science platform (Institute of Physics) Web browsers currently display a security warning on the IOP Science platform, warning that parts of the page (such as image) may not be secure. The warning appears when users are authenticated on the site. The error is due to the branding and logo images; however the site connection is secure. Westlaw Westlaw UK moves to a new platform on Monday 5th April.  Work is ongoing to update SUPrimo catalogue records to reflect the new platform.  If SUPrimo records are missing, or contain broken links, please access Westlaw using our Westlaw A-Z Database record.  Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. Emerald Insight platform - Emerald eJournal and eBook content

Emerald's new Emerald Insight platform (https://www.emeraldinsight.com/) goes live early July 2019. The exact date has not been confirmed. Please note that a few things won't be available straight away on the new platform: teaching notes will not be directly accessible from the site in the early stages of migration [contact Customer Support (support@emeraldinsight.com), who will supply you with the materials you require]; and user profile (My profile) section won't be available immediately.

NEW SITE LAUNCHES early July 2019

ASCE Library 'Find it@Strathclyde' links from the References against ASCE content are currently not working as expected. Primo indicates no online available, even when Strathclyde does have online access. This has been reported to the publisher, who is currently investigating. 15-08-2019
ASME Digital Library There is a known problem with PDF links to ASME ‘Brief Notes’ content on the ASME Digital Collection platform. ASME are aware of this issue and are working on a solution, however there is no timeframe for when this will be resolved. Recently resolved Library eResource issues

VLeBooks (Askews & Holts) Problem where when clicking on 'Read Online' button, eBook fails to load and browser displays error 'Unable to process request' has been resolved. Normal access now restored. 27-09-2019
Passport GMID (Euromonitor) Access problems with Passport (extremely slow performance and in some cases the resource returning error messages) now resolved.  Please clear browser cookies and cache before attempting to access resource. Normal access to database now restored. 27-09-2019
Westlaw UK Westlaw have confirmed that technical issues affecting the platform on 13-09-2019 have been resolved. Access to Westlaw UK is fully restored. 18-09-2019
SPIE Digital Library Problem with Shibboleth access to SPIE Digital Library (and the journal 'Optical Engineering') now resolved. 16-09-2019
Wiley Online Library Problems with off-campus Institutional (Shibboleth) login to Wiley Online Library now resolved.   30-08-2019
