A few days ago, on 13th March 2025, a special milestone was reached in the University’s reading list software (Leganto). Our 100,000th citation was added to a reading list.
This phenomenal achievement comes in our 6th year of using the reading list software. Or, to put it more precisely, 2,144 days after going live. That is an impressive average of 67 citations per day over 1,494 workdays!
After some celebratory choccies our team has been mulling over other notable statistics the Strathclyde community has racked up in the reading list software over the last few years. Here are our top 5 fun facts about our reading list journey:
5. The 100,000th citation
The citation that helped us reach this milestone was:
Puar, J. (2011). Citation and Censorship: The Politics of Talking About the Sexual Politics of Israel. Feminist Legal Studies, 19(2), 133–142.
It was added to the ‘Feminism and International Relations’ reading list.
4. Number of Lists
Our databse now boasts 2,523 reading lists. This accounts for approximately 75% of all classes running over the 2024/25 academic session at Strathclyde.
3. Growing Engagement
The use of Leganto reading lists by students has been growing every year since implementation:
| Number of citation views | |
|---|---|
| Year 1: 2019-2020 | 49,816 |
| Year 2: 2020-2021 | 193,492 |
| Year 3: 2021-2022 | 217,431 |
| Year 4: 2022-2023 | 257,937 |
| Year 5: 2023-2024 | 272,346 |
And we’re on course to exceed this figure over 2024-2025.
2. Humanities tops the leader board
For the 2024/25 session Humanities has the highest number of reading lists being used by students.

1. The Most Clicked Citation
The most clicked citation this academic year with 1,445 clicks (so far) is:
