We are student ambassadors at the Andersonian Library here at the University of Strathclyde, and we wanted to share a bit about what we do and how we can help you make the most of our library services.

What Does a Student Ambassador Do?

As a student ambassador, our primary role is to bridge the gap between the library's resources and you—the students. We assist in making the library a more accessible and welcoming place for everyone. This includes:

  • Resource Assistance: Whether you're searching for a specific book, journal, or database, we’re here to help you navigate our extensive collections both in print and online.
  • Workshops and Events: You’ll find us at most events, be it Open Days, Fresher’s Week or Accommodation check-ins, providing useful tips and tricks we’ve learned in our student life, to make your student life easier.
  • Feedback Collection: Your opinions matter! We gather feedback on library services to help improve and tailor them to student needs.
  • IT Help:  We get lots of questions about Eduroam and how to connect devices to Wi-Fi. This is one of our favourite parts of the job as we get to talk to you!

How Can You Reach Out for Help?

Navigating academic resources can be challenging, but you don't have to do it alone. Here's how you can get assistance:

  • In-Person Support: You can find us at the library's Enquiries Desk on Level 3 or roaming around the library during weekdays. As students ourselves, we know university life and managing your studies can sometimes be a lot. However, we are here to help so if you have any questions then we are always happy to chat.
  • Email: If you need support then you can send your queries to help@strath.ac.uk, and the team will get back to you promptly.
  • Online Resources: Visit the library's website for guides and FAQs that cover a wide range of topics.
  • Social media and StrathApp: Follow the Andersonian Library on Instagram and check the Library page on StrathApp for updates, tips, and the opportunity to ask questions directly.

Why Get in Touch?

University life can be overwhelming, especially when juggling multiple assignments and deadlines – we know, we’re students too! The library offers a wealth of resources designed to make your academic journey smoother. Whether you need help with:

  • Finding credible sources for your assignments
  • Understanding how to properly cite references
  • Utilising software for data analysis
  • Or simply looking for a quiet place to study

We're here to support you every step of the way.

Final Thoughts

Don't hesitate to make the most of the services available to you. The library is more than just a building with books—it's a community committed to your success. If you see us around, please stop for a chat or ask any questions you might have.

Looking forward to ensuring your discussion rooms are organised, your printers have paper, and your books are on the shelf.
