Did you know that you don’t need to be a current student or staff member to access a broad range of academic electronic resources in the Library? Our Walk-in Access service is designed to offer visitors access to subscribed eJournals, eBooks and databases from a designated PC on level 3 of the Library.

The service is available to a wide range of visitors, including:
- our alumni
- graduates from other universities
- SCONUL card holders
- University of Glasgow postgraduates and academic staff
- Centre for Lifelong Learning students (on credit-bearing courses)
- members of certain societies
- college affiliates
- school pupils working towards Advanced Highers or Baccalaureate qualifications
Strathclyde/Jordanhill alumni can use the service without full membership but must apply for a visitor’s pass before arriving.
There are a few things to keep in mind. You’ll need to use the computer in the Library – remote access isn’t possible. The service can only be used for personal study or research, and not for commercial purposes. Since there’s just one computer for this service, it’s important to book ahead to make sure it’s free when you need it. We can’t make all the library electronic resources available to Walk-in Users and some resources might have limited access due to licensing, so we do monitor sessions to make sure we’re working within the guidance.
Ready to get started? Visit the Walk-In Access to Electronic Resources page to check your eligibility, learn how to book, and plan your visit. Whether you're continuing your research, exploring a new topic, or just curious about what’s available, we’d love to welcome you into the Library.
