Inspired by Black History Month, we have created a new online LibGuide - Black Community Resources. You can use the guide at any time to help you deepen your understanding of Black history and culture.
The guide is a dedicated space providing links to:
- academic articles
- historical documents
- personal stories
- fiction
- multimedia resources including film, TV programming, audio books and music
Explore our themed reading lists, currently:
- African History
- East African History
- Black Queer History
- Black History Month
Discover TV, film and audio content on Box of Broadcasts (BoB). Students and staff based in the UK can use BoB. Playlist themes, compiled by Senior IS Assistant Liz, include:
- African History
- Afro-Caribbean History
- African-American History
- Black Women's History
Black Community Resources is a new LibGuide and we are still adding content to it. All students and staff are welcome to explore the resources we've listed, and suggest new ones, too.
In the Library
Throughout October we have a display of fiction and non-fiction books highlighting Black culture which are available to borrow. Find this display in the main entrance area of the Library.
This month's Archives & Special Collections display also celebrates Black History Month. Visit the display, close to the Lecture Theatre on Level 3 of the Library, or read their blog post to learn more about Strathclyde's first African and Asian Honorary Graduates.
