Ebooks at Strathclyde: Downloading ebooks.

Installing Adobe apps.


A lot of ebook suppliers will provide you with the option of installing Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Digital Edtions when you try to download an ebook.

If your device does not have Adobe Acrobat reader or Adobe Digital Editions, before installing you will need to register for an Adobe ID. So, when you come to install either Adobe Acrobat or ADE, you will be have the ID to enter when prompted.

  • Register for Adobe ID, this is quick and free and enables you to authorise your devices.
  • click on "Sign in", then "Get an Adobe ID".
  • create an account and password.
  • install Adobe Digital Editions or Adobe Reader.
  • Authorize your device with your Adobe ID.
  • Download ebook.


Check if your device will read PDF or ePub files.

To download ebooks in PDF format you will need Adobe Acrobat.

To download ebooks in ePub format you will need Adobe Digital Editions.
