Are you a distance learner who cannot access our physical Library? Do you need access to a printed book held by another local University Library? Heading home of the festive season and would like to study in another University Library that is more convenient?
The SCONUL Access Scheme allows Strathclyde students and staff to use the libraries of hundreds of other Universities across the UK.
Membership of the scheme gives you access to the space and collection. Depending on your level of study and status you might also be able to borrow books. Access to IT facilities or electronic resources might not be included.
How to apply for SCONUL Access
Applying for SCONUL Access is simple and quick:
- Complete the online application form
You only need to do this once, and you don’t need to make a separate application for each Library you want to use. - Wait for confirmation
We will check your details and if you are eligible for the scheme you will get an email confirmation within 2 working days, often sooner. - Visit the library
Once you have the email confirmation you can use it and your student card to access any member Library. It’s a good idea to check the joining procedure with the Library you are planning to visit. They might need you to supply other forms of identification and some libraries ask you to apply in advance. So check their website or contact them online. And don’t forget to check their opening hours.
Our Library – the space and the collection – is an amazing resource. But we appreciate that sometimes another Library might be more convenient or have a specialist collection that appeals to your specific research needs. Joining SCONUL Access is quick and easy and will broaden your Library horizons.
